A section of Members of Parliament from Lango under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party are demanding for an urgent meeting with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to discuss how government intends to fulfill all the 2021-2026 manifesto made to the people of Lango before the 2026 elections.
The MPs argue that many pledges were made to the people of Lango in the 2021 campaigns but that majority of them have not been implemented, something which they say is contrary to what is happening in other regions of the Country.
The legislators say they want to meet President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also the National Chairman of the party to understand why pledges made to the people of Lango are not being fulfilled and forge way forward thereafter.
The demand for the meeting with the President came up on Wednesday during a consultative meeting involving a section of MPs from Lango and NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong at the NRM secretariat in Kampala on Wednesday ahead of the NRM mobilization tour in Lango.
Speaking to Voice of Lango FM Wednesday evening after the meeting, Dokolo South MP, Felix Okot Ogong said as NRM MPs from Lango, they are demanding to know why the pledges in the NRM manifesto are being slowly fulfilled yet its remaining less than one year to the next election cycle.

According to Okot Ogong some of the key critical pledges include; Cattle compensation for war claimants, compensation of former Amuka militia, tarmacking of roads like Dokolo-Amolatar, Lira- Aloi to Otuke to Abim and Aboke to Bobi among others.
Others are; construction of Lango Cultural Institution palace and construction of Akii bua stadium.
Okot says they also want the President to open up and tell them about the much rumored cohabitation or marriage between NRM and UPC and the likely impact of that marriage on the future of NRM in Lango.
Patrick Ogwang Abura an official from the NRM secretariat told Voice of Lango FM that the Secretary General Todwong convened the meeting to discuss pertinent issues affcecting Lango ahead of his mobilization tour in Lango
According to Ogwang some of the issues which were extensively discussed include the government’s efforts in fulfilling the 2021-26 manifesto, unfulfilled government pledges and the recent by-elections.
