UPC releases roadmap for party elections

The Uganda People’s Congress has announced that July and August will be busy months for the party as they intend to hold internal processes to determine party flag bearers and hold the national delegates conference.
While addressing the press at the party headquarters at Uganda house in Kampala on June, 25, 2025, the Party Head of Media and Communications Muzeyi Faizo on behalf of the Chairman Party Electoral Commission, Hajji Kazimbiraine Mahmoud, said that the exercise of renewing Party structures started with Lango Sub region on 12th June 2025 and it is continuing to other parts of the country.
Muzeyi further stated Other key dates include; 10th – 15th July 2025 picking and returning of application/declaration of interest form for the Party Flag for the positions of district chairperson and city mayor at UPC headquarters, 8th – 10th August 2025 conducting of primaries for Local Governments (where applicable) at district accordingly and 11th August 2025, declaration of party flag bearers for local governments at regional offices or party headquarters, and will conclude with receiving election petitions arising from the Party primaries at UPC Headquarters from 12th – 16th August 2025.
Just like UPC , the National Unity Platform on Tuesday June, 24, 2025 also extended the period for party members to pick and return nomination forms from the earlier suggested date of June, 23, 2025 to July, 25, 2025 to give candidates ample time to prepare their required documents and submit for nominations for different leadership positions.
