Police of Oyam Central Police Station are holding the officer in charge Oyam prison over the death of a 20 year old inmate.

Otim was rushed to Anyeke HCV before being transferred to Lira Regional referral hospital from where he died on Saturday.
Following the death of Otim, there was serious public outcry that forced security to convene a meeting on Monday at the north Kyoga region police headquarters in Lira city where it was resolved that the SP Serunkuma should be arrested to aid investigation into the death of Otim.
Otim was a member of Pukica clan and a local of Barolimu, Zambia Parish, Kamdini Sub County, Oyam district.
Oyam District Police Commander, SP Edison Muhangi confirmed the arrest of SP Sserukuma who has been charged with murder.
Benson Dilla, the LC5 chairman of Oyam said the arrest of Serunkuma should serve as a deterrent to errant security officers.
Sam Otia, the clan chief in charge youth in Pukica clan welcomed the arrest of Serunkuma and called for justice to prevail for their deceased son.
