Commissioner of Police Stephen Jacan Onencan has been appointed as the new Regional Police Commander for North Kyoga Region.
Onencan will substantively replace Commissioner of Police Deo Obura who clocked the mandatory retirement age in April and handed over to his deputy SSP Police Allan Tugiziire.
In the new changes made by the Inspector General of Police Abbas Byakagaba over the weekend which saw 145 Police officers reshuffled, Onencan was moved from Wamala region to North Kyoga as RPC.
Previously, Onencan also served as the RPC for Katonga region.
Meanwhile, Lira City Police Commander SP Abel Ruganza, has been transferred to Agago district and will be succeeded by his counterpart from Agago Brian Ampeire.
DPC Ruganza said he will most likely report to his new duty station tomorrow.
He said his transfer is normal and the protest held by boda boda riders of Lira City against the same on Tuesday was uncalled for.
In the other changes, Lira District Police Commander SP Achien Irene has been transferred to Mayuge meanwhile her colleague SP Aanyu Agnes is replacing her according to North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Jimmy Okema.
Okema says the changes take immediate effect.
