6,000 cattle vaccinated against FMD in Lira City

A total of 6,557 cattle have been vaccinated against the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in Lira city.
Lira City Veterinary Officer, Dr. Nelson Okello said 4,183 of the 6,557 vaccinated cattle were from Lira City East division and 2,374 were from Lira City west division.
Dr. Okello said the vaccination was supported by the 25,000 doses of the Foot and Mouth Disease vaccines they received from ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industries and Fisheries.
However, Dr. Okello accused some leaders of sabotaging the vaccination exercise by discouraging farmers from taking their animals to be vaccinated.
Okello said they expect to vaccinate more 3,500 cattle against Foot and Mouth Disease.
