Retired teacher commits suicide over failure to pay loan

A retired teacher has committed suicide in after reportedly faling to pay a loan that he got from a village saving group.

The deceased, David Omia Kibuka 72, is a retired teacher of Aliwok primary school in Kangai Sub County and is a resident of Anwangi village, Anwangi parish, Kwera Sub County.

His body was found on sunday morning hanging in his house by his family members who had returned home from prayers.

Leone Owiny, the LC1 chairman of Anwangi village said they got reports that Omia had a loan of about 1 million shillings that he got from a village saving group and by the time of his death, the group had written a letter to him to demand for their pay.

Police had arrived at the crime scene to investigate the matter.

Romans Onek-Giu, the community liaison officer of Dokolo district said police has given a go ahead to the deceased relatives to bury his body.
