A 20 years old woman from Amolatar district is fighting for her life at Amai Health Center IV after being stabbed in the head by her husband for allegedly buying a new cloth to celebrate Christmas.
The victim has been identified as Winny Ojok and the husband Ambrose Ojok all residents of Acama nono, Anamwany parish, Awelo sub county, Amolatar District.
Patrick Adoko the LC1 Chairperson of Acama nono village told Voice of Lango FM that Ojok returned home in the evening from a trading center where he found his wife Winny clad in a new dress.
Ojok reportedly started interrogating his wife to name the person who bought for her the dress, after a heated argument, the woman told Ojok that she used the proceeds from her farming group to buy the dress.
But according to Adoko, violent conversation ensured after the two disagreed on the source of money for buying the cloth prompting the woman to ran to the father in-laws home to seek refuge.
Ojok reportedly pursued Winny who was at his father’s house where he told his parents that would burn his wife’s new clothes.
Another fracas again ensued where Ojok allegedly stabbed the wife multiple times using a sharp knife in the head.
Ojok was arrested by the area residents and leaders who handed him over to Awelo Police Outpost.
The local leaders castigated the barbaric actions of Ojok which they say was caused by alcoholism.
Attempts to get comments from both the district police commander of Amolatar and the Police Spokesperson for North Kyoga region Patrick Jimmy Okema were futile by press time.
