Otuke

At least 31 head of cattle were on Sunday stolen in Olilim Sub County, Otuke district by suspected Karamojong cattle rustlers.

Those whose cattle were stolen are Alfred Odwe, a resident of Alula who lost 9 cattle and Dorita Kia, a resident of Got-ojwang who lost 22 in the incident.

The LCIII of Olilim sub county Francis Otyama told Voice of Lango fm that the said the cattle rustlers were not armed like in the previous raids.

Otyama noted that attempts by the army to pursue the suspected cattle rustlers were futile after they escaped through an area called Amita.

Otyama called for vigilance from the community of Got-Ojwang and Alula parish to avert further raids.

On the same note, Otuke Resident District Commissioner Gillian Akullo called on the local community to report any suspected Karamojong cattle rustlers to security in a bid to help in tracking their movement.

Akullo said Alir has an army detachment but seems the attackers maneuvered through the hills at night.
