Former Otuke district chairman on the spot over assault

Former Otuke District chairman Bosco Odongo Obote is on the spot over allegation of assaulting a herdsman who has been caring for cattle belonging to Lira businessman Tom Odyek Ejang.

According to the LC1 chairman of Amon Omito in Adwari Town Council Morris Omara, Odongo Obote allegedly assaulted Simon Okwii whom the former found grazing cattle on a piece of land whose ownership they are contesting over with Tom Odyek Ejang.

Omara said the family of Odongo Obote has been embroiled in a wrangle over the 10 acre piece of land with Odyek Ejang since 1986.

A case of assault has been opened by Okwii against Odongo Obote at Alango Police Out Post vide SD reference number, 09/22/07/2023.

Simon Okwii reported that, Odongo Obote said he is currently in serious pain following assault meted on him by Odongo Obote.

When contacted by Voice of Lango, Odongo Obote accused Odyek Ejang of conniving with some unscrupulous people to grab their land.

Effort to speak to Tom Odyek Ejang on the matter was futile by press time.
