MPs hail President Museveni for restoring peace in northern Uganda

The northern regional parliamentary sitting in Gulu city has hailed President Yoweri Museveni for restoring peace in northern Uganda.
Kazo county MP, Dan Kimosho moved a motion to thank president Museveni for his efforts in restoring peace in northern Uganda after the Lord’s Resistance Army insurgency led by Joseph Kony.
President Museveni attributed contributors of peace in northern Uganda as; NRM ideology of trying individuals implicated in crimes as opposed to the whole community, reconciliation, and proper budgeting for the region.

Museveni said the challenges of the region cannot be resolved at once and focus should be put on boosting household income in the region since the roads are not in very bad state.
President Museveni accused some religious school foundation bodies of levying exorbitant fees in schools which is affecting education among children.
He cited a school in Baralegi in Otuke district that he financed but parents are still being made to pay fees.
Speaker of parliament, Anita Annett Among hailed the NRM government for developing cities including Gulu, Lira and Arua through the USMID project and establishment of Universities including Gulu, Muni and Lira.
She said northern Uganda is still recovering from the LRA insurgency and asked government to equip the region with agriculture mechanization equipment, promote commercial agriculture and find markets for agricultural products.
Kilak north county MP, Akol Anthony opposed the motion to thank president Museveni since it does not contribute to compensation of war claimants but was stopped by the speaker, Anita who said the issue had been addressed in her communication.
Omoro district woman MP, Catherine Lamwaka said around 2000 street kids are destabilizing peace in Gulu city, and called on government to support their livelihood.
The chairperson, Lango parliamentary group also Kole district woman MP, Judith Alyek said president Museveni has worked hard to restore peace in northern Uganda and is supporting development in the region but asked him to fulfill pledges made to the region.
